چکیده

Bambara groundnut is the main food legume after cowpea, especially in rural areas Burkina Faso. Due to inappropriate production and storage conditions, seeds are susceptible contamination by several fungi. Therefore, present study was conducted isolate identify postharvest fungi associated with produced To do this, a total of 99 seed samples were collected three agro ecological zones The sanitary analysis carried out using blotting paper method slight modifications. isolation purification isolates performed on Potato Dextrose Agar medium while their identification done through macroscopic microscopic phenotypical characterization different culture media (Malt Extract Czapeck Dox Agar) keys. A 421 fungal strains isolated predominant genera Aspergillus belonging section flavi (66.84%), nigri (59.04%), Macrophomina (26.49%). This shows that Faso contaminated infection rates these differ according agro-ecological zones. Post-harvest techniques need be improved limit crop losses.   Key words: Agro-ecological zone, groundnut, seeds, strains, characteristics,

In Vitro Seeds Germination and Seedling Growth of Bambara Groundnut (Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc. (Fabaceae))

Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc.) is an indigenous grain legume. It occupies a prominent place in the strategies to ensure food security in sub-Saharan Africa. Development of an efficient in vitro regeneration system, a prerequisite for genetic transformation application, requires the establishment of optimal conditions for seeds germination and plantlets development. Three type...

Genetic diversity in Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea L.) germplasm revealed by RAPD markers.

Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers were used to assess genetic diversity in Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea L.) germplasm using 25 African accessions from the collection in the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Nigeria. Fifty random decamer primers were screened to assess their ability to detect polymorphism in bambara; 17 of them were selected for this...

Variation in Pod Yield Characters and Heritability Estimates in Some Cultivars of Bambara Groundnut (Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc

Variation in pod and seed yield among twelve cultivars of Bambara groundnut was investigated in 2004 and 2005 cropping seasons. The mean performance revealed that BG7004AS despite its recorded low number of pods per plant, had the highest 100 seed weight, pod width, pod length, seed width and seed length, followed by BG7002AS, BG7009BS and BG70010AS, which had the best yield and yield component...

African origin of Bradyrhizobium populations nodulating Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea L. Verdc) in Ghanaian and South African soils

Flavonoids secreted by legumes play a major role as signal molecules for attracting compatible rhizobia. The aim of this study was to assess and understand the diversity of microsymbionts nodulating Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea L. Verdc.) landraces of different seedcoat colours using restriction fragment length polymorphism and phylogenetic analysis. Seedcoat pigmentation of landraces h...
